Can I Try a Class Before Committing to Membership?
Before you commit to a year at a gym, you probably want to know what the classes feel like and whether the coaching suits you. HIIT West Hampstead offers several lower-commitment ways to do that before you decide whether to join.
Here are a few ways to try the training, what they cost and who they might suit. If you’d like to compare membership prices too, see our prices page.
Ways to try a gym class before committing
1. The 2-week Kickstart
Many people start with a Kickstart to try the coaching before choosing a membership. The HIIT Kickstart costs £39 and includes four coach-led classes, a goal-setting consultation and technique guidance at each session. The SGPT Kickstart costs £59 and includes four small-group personal training sessions with coaching and form correction. Both run for two weeks from purchase, and you can book sessions at times that work for you. Full details are on the Kickstart page.
2. A gym tour or consultation
If you’re not ready to train, email the team to arrange a tour or fitness consultation. You can see the studio, learn how classes are structured and ask a coach whether HIIT or SGPT might suit your goals.
3. A class pack
If you’d like more flexibility after your Kickstart, a class pack lets you keep training without a monthly payment. Ten HIIT classes cost £130 and are valid for three months; 20 cost £230 and are valid for six months. SGPT packs are available too.
4. A rolling membership
Rolling memberships have no minimum term, and you can cancel by giving 14 days’ notice before your next billing date. This can suit you if you want regular training without a long contract.
| Option | Cost | What you get | Commitment | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HIIT Kickstart | £39 | 4 HIIT classes and a goal-setting consultation | 2 weeks only | Trying HIIT properly |
| SGPT Kickstart | £59 | 4 small group PT sessions and a consultation | 2 weeks only | Trying strength training with coaching |
| Gym tour | Just email to arrange | A look around and a chat with a coach | None | Seeing the space first |
| 10 HIIT class pack | £130 | 10 classes over 3 months | None, no recurring payment | Irregular schedules |
| Rolling membership | From £45 per 28 days | 4 to 12 classes per cycle | 14 days' notice to cancel | Training every week |
Why a few sessions beat a single taster
Your first class may not tell you everything about a gym: you’re still learning the warm-up, the equipment, the coach’s cues and how the studio works. After a few sessions, you’ll have a better feel for the training, the coaches and the other members. That’s why the Kickstart includes four classes over two weeks instead of one taster.
A few sessions give you time to notice how the training feels, although results vary from person to person. Our guide to making the most of your gym class experience has tips to help you get more from each session.
To get a fair sense of the programme, spread your four sessions across the two weeks and try booking at the times you’d normally train. If an early morning class doesn’t work for you during the Kickstart, you’ll know before you join.
What happens when your trial ends
Before your Kickstart ends, the team will review how it went and may suggest a membership that fits your goals and experience, whether HIIT, SGPT or a combination of both. You are not obliged to join; if you decide it is not for you, the £39 or £59 covers two weeks of coached training.

Questions worth asking any gym before you commit
- How much notice do I need to give to cancel?
- Do unused sessions roll over, and can I freeze my membership?
- What happens if I cancel a class at short notice?
- Are specialist classes included, or do they cost extra?
At HIIT West Hampstead, cancellation requires 14 days’ notice before your next billing date. Sessions don’t roll over, and depending on your plan, you may be able to freeze your membership up to three times a year. Classes have a 12-hour cancellation window, while Hyrox and CrossFit-style POWER classes are included in the HIIT membership.
